So Search is Dead. Not quite as I predicted, yet, but it’s going that way faster and faster. No, what I mean is that right now, there’s a steady wind blowing. More and more people are going directly to the confident lies machine, and asking ChatGPT and their Ilk Directly their queries.

When I wrote that article, AI’s were… substancially worse? Like, they got things wrong a LOT more. They still do, but they did more then, too.

It’s an improvement.

It’s also killing google, and has all but killed sites like Stack Overflow, which now have fewer daily visitors than they did when they first launched.

I maintain that by the end of 2026, Google usage is going to be measurably down, and likely engines that don’t force AI results will be up. Buuuut maybe not as badly as I predicted. We will see.
